The evolution of the ICIB Brokerweb Group

Our history

Founded in July 1975 when Colin Evans and James Crisp Ltd established Industrial and Commercial Insurance Brokers Limited, ICIB began with a commitment to providing tailored risk advisory and insurance broking for New Zealand businesses.

In the following decades the firm continuously expanded its reach and capabilities through strategic acquisitions and partnerships, such as joining the Brokernet Group in 2002 (now called NZbrokers).

In 2008 the merger of Industrial and Commercial Insurance Brokers Limited and Mooney & Associates, formally created ICIB and established a strong foundation for future national expansion.

Growth increased over the ensuing years as ICIB integrated a further array of brokerages across New Zealand. A key turning point occurred in 2022 when ICIB merged with Brokerweb Risk Services (BWRS) to form ICIB BrokerWeb, bringing together extensive local expertise and creating greater national scale.

The business has continued to strengthen its market position through targeted acquisitions across the country. These have mainly included the purchase of firms specialising in specific industry sectors and those with expertise in Life & Health insurances.

The ICIB Group has continued to be managed by its employee shareholders and is now the fifth largest insurance broker in New Zealand.

We are proud of our longstanding Kiwi heritage and to be chosen by our clients not just for today but for life.
